Western Balkans Digital Summit

On the 18 and 19 April, 2018, Macedonia hosted the first ever Western Balkans Digital Summit (#DSWB6) in Skopje. The Summit brought together representatives from governments, businesses, regional organizations, CSOs, academia and youth with the goal to set up a digital platform for exchanging of ideas and proposals.

The Western Balkans Digital Summit 2018 included panel discussions about digital connectivity; integrating WB economies into the Digital Single Market; enhancing cyber security; improving digital skills; digitization of industry and interactive discussions between governments, academia, enterprises, innovators, CSOs, youth organizations, etc.

The EXPO was an important part of the summit, representing a unique opportunity for companies in the digital industry from the region and wider, to showcase their innovative products and services, but also to meet and network with potential partners from government and business sectors.

EasyPay was one of the three representatives in Albania at the first Western Balkans digital summit (# DSWB6) in Skopje.

During meetings at the expo of each company, EasyPay met with several important companies for the purpose of exploring different ways of co-operation that could help to continue the digital payment revolution in Albania.

Companies had the opportunity to display their innovative products and services, but also to meet and network with potential partners from the government and business sectors.

One of the most popular and interesting parts of the Summit was the ‘Digital Talk’ session which gathered representatives from the 6 countries of the Western Balkans who tried to answer the biggest questions of the moment in a ‘Ted Talk’ style. Linda Shomo was the only representative of an Albanian company during this session and she had the chance to cover one of the hottest topics for now, the digitalisation of the Financial Industry and the FinTech revolution.

Linda Shomo (CEO of EasyPay)

“Balkan countries should implement high level strategies in order to provide effective digital financial banking services. Digitalization is a journey not a destination.”
