This year on 27 June we celebrate for the first time the Micro-, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Day. Those enterprises, which generally employ fewer than 250 persons, including the payment sector, are the backbone of most economies worldwide and play a key role in developing countries.
According to the data provided by the International Council for Small Business (ICSB), formal and informal Micro-, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) make up over 90% of all firms and account on average for 60-70% of total employment and 50% of GDP.[1]
Today at Easypay, we celebrate our contribution to society and the sustainable development goals in Albania.
Being the first online payment provider in Albania, we focus to target and reach the unbanked, trying to play a key role in the financial inclusion in our country, where 58% of the population has no access to banking.
EasyPay is also notable for encouraging and supporting young entrepreneurs and is always seen in the startup scene in Albania, sharing valuable lessons from its entrepreneurial experience.
Human diversity and gender equality are an important part of the company’s culture. More than 50% of the team are women and the overall average age of the staff does not exceed the thirties. Outside the headquarters, we have managed to outnumber 90 EasyPay female agents, who manage their own small and medium enterprises all over Albania.
Thanks to the company’s culture and policies, EasyPay has an inspiring reputation not only as an innovative fintech in Albania, but also as a successful social enterprise, reaching many of the millennium development goals in the region.
